4 January 2017
Heartfelt thanks once again to all the choir members for their hard work and commitment both in the run up to Chirstmas and over the Christmas period itself. Several singerrs were able to attend all three services over Chirstmas Eve and Chirstmas Day - no mean vocal challenge! The choir will be taking a well earned break on Jan 1st but will be bafck in harness the following Sunday, having recharged the batteries and looking forwad to leading the singing throughout the forthcoming year.
From time to time, by request, I try to include a favourite hymn for special occasions, anniversaries and so on. I thought it would be good to look to do this on a less ad hoc basis and endeavour to collate a list of favourite hymns from as many people as possible.
To that end, I shall be placing a box at the back of the church into whcih you can place your choices. The form for you to complete will give you the opportunity to say if the hymn has any special significance or is linked to a particular occasion or date although it can just be a hymn and you love to sing!' I'll do my best to include them and publish the music list well in advance so that you can see if your favourite is coming up! Needless to say, the hymns are generally linked to the theme of the readings for the different Sundays but many hymns fit under the heading of 'general' so all things are possible!
So, get thinking and I'll look forward to seeing the box filling up! I'm also looking forward to welcoming new singers in 2017 and seeing the choir stalls filling up! I am just a phone call away!
Meahwhile, a happy new year!
